1) Leveling - between all the quests in the 3 camps in Chapter 1, you should be around lvl 8-9 when you finally join a camp. Be sure to explore every camp very well in order to get all the quests done. The best order to do quests in is Old Camp 1st, then New Camp, then Sect Camp. Requires the least amount of running around.

To attack or parry with a melee weapon, equip your weapon first with 1. To fire an arrow, equip your bow first with 2. To cast spells, equip the magic spell first using 3 through 9 and 0. Open it and take everything inside. Head into the abandoned mine's entrance and grab the Pickaxe. Equip it. Head over the bridge to fight your first real enemy, a Molerat. Save here in case you die. You can grab the Rusty Sword and drop down off the bridge to equip it if you want to attack it more efficiently. Anyway, kill it and take its meat.

Trainers: Corristo and Baal Cador (circles 1-4), Saturas (circles 1-5), Xardas (circle 6) Circles 1-6 cost 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 respectively. So circle six will cost 10+15+20+25+30+40=140 skill points total. Generally worth it, but note the caveat. Skip bow training and throw fireballs instead in this case.
